Missouri Teen Allegedly Shot While With Friends, Mother Finds Her Body Hours Later

Hillsboro, Missouri — A Missouri community is mourning the loss of 16-year-old Gabbriana Boyster, who authorities say was fatally shot inside her home before allegedly being left there for hours by three friends who are now facing criminal charges.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, investigators believe the shooting occurred on Friday evening, but Gabbriana’s body was not discovered until Saturday afternoon, when her mother returned home and made the devastating discovery.

Officials say the investigation remains active as prosecutors move forward with charges against the three teenagers who were allegedly present at the time of the shooting.

Mother Finds Daughter After Hours Had Passed

Gabbriana’s mother, Candy G’Sell, told local media she found her daughter inside a room of their Hillsboro home.

Recalling the heartbreaking moment, she said her daughter was “laying there… sitting up” when she found her.

Jefferson County Sheriff David Marshak said investigators believe Gabbriana’s body remained inside the home for several hours before authorities were notified.

“While the victim was discovered Saturday afternoon, investigators believe the shooting took place Friday evening, and the victim’s body was abandoned for hours,” Marshak said.

Authorities have not publicly explained why emergency services were allegedly not contacted immediately after the shooting.

Three Teen Boys Face Criminal Charges

Investigators say three teenage boys were inside the home when the shooting occurred.

According to authorities, one teen has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon resulting in death, armed criminal action, and abandonment of a corpse.

The other two teens have each been charged with abandonment of a corpse, investigators said.

Officials have not released additional details about what led to the shooting or identified the suspects because of their ages.

The allegations outlined in the charges have not been proven in court, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Family Remembers Teen’s Bright Future

G’Sell said the boys charged in the case were friends of her daughter, making the loss even more difficult to understand.

“She loved her friends… for them, her friends, to just leave her,” the grieving mother said.

According to her family, Gabbriana had planned to begin her junior year at Hillsboro High School and dreamed of becoming an ultrasound technician.

Loved ones described her death as a “senseless tragedy” and remembered her as someone who brought happiness to everyone around her.

“Gabby was the kind of person who would always make you smile.”

Family members also described her as beautiful inside and out, full of laughter, endless giggles, and a smile that made everyone around her feel at home.

Community Mourns Gabbriana’s Death

According to her obituary, Gabbriana was the youngest of three siblings and was deeply loved by her family and friends.

Although relatives said she could be shy when first meeting people, they remembered her warm personality and caring nature once she became comfortable.

Her family said her kindness, playful spirit and ability to make others smile will never be forgotten.

As investigators continue examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, the Hillsboro community continues to grieve the loss of a teenager whose loved ones say had an incredibly bright future ahead of her.
