Stockton, California — Nearly two weeks after a deadly hit-and-run claimed the lives of a bicyclist and his two dogs, California authorities say they have arrested the driver believed to have fled the scene.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), investigators identified the suspect vehicle through evidence gathered after the June 27 crash and later tracked down both the SUV and its alleged driver.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that drew attention after the bicyclist and his two companions were killed on a busy roadway near Stockton.
Deadly Crash Happened Along Eight Mile Road
The collision occurred at approximately 10:18 a.m. on June 27 along westbound Eight Mile Road, just east of Interstate 5.
CHP investigators said the victim was riding a bicycle while pulling a shopping cart that had been converted into a trailer. His two dogs were traveling alongside him when a westbound vehicle struck them.
Authorities said the driver left the scene without stopping.
The bicyclist and both dogs suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead following the collision.
Investigators have not publicly released the identity of the victim.
Investigation Led Detectives to Suspect Vehicle
Following the crash, CHP investigators worked to identify the vehicle involved.
Authorities eventually determined they were looking for a silver or light gray 2011–2015 Ford Explorer believed to have been involved in the fatal collision.
The investigation continued for several days as officers gathered evidence and followed leads.
On Tuesday, investigators located the SUV.
According to CHP, the vehicle displayed clear signs of crash-related damage, and it was seized as evidence to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Suspect Booked on Felony Charges
Authorities identified the driver as 30-year-old Larry Page.
He was arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in death and vehicular manslaughter.
According to jail records, Page is being held on $180,000 bail.
He is expected to appear in court for his arraignment on Thursday.

At this stage, the charges represent allegations, and Page is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
CHP Continues Investigation
Investigators have not released additional details about what may have caused the collision or whether alcohol, drugs, speed or other contributing factors played a role.
The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
Officials also have not announced whether additional charges could be filed as the investigation progresses.
