Fort Worth, Texas — A traffic stop in Fort Worth escalated into a police pursuit Tuesday afternoon after a driver allegedly fled from state troopers, crashed into a creek, and left a child inside the vehicle while attempting to escape on foot, according to Texas authorities.
The suspect was later taken into custody without incident following a coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
Officials said the child survived the crash with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Traffic Stop Turns Into Police Pursuit
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident began at approximately 1:45 p.m. near New York Avenue and East Berry Street.
State troopers attempted to stop the driver of a white Hyundai Elantra for an alleged traffic violation.
Instead of pulling over, authorities say the driver accelerated away, leading troopers on a pursuit through the Fort Worth area.
Officials have not released details regarding how long the pursuit lasted or how fast the vehicle was traveling.
Vehicle Crashes Into Creek
The pursuit came to an end when the Hyundai reportedly crashed into a small creek bed.
According to investigators, the driver exited the damaged vehicle and fled the area on foot. Authorities allege that a child remained inside the vehicle following the crash.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and provided assistance to the child, who was later transported to a local hospital.
Officials said the child suffered non-incapacitating injuries and is expected to be released into the care of a legal guardian.
Suspect Located and Arrested
Following the crash, officers from the Fort Worth Police Department and the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office joined state troopers in searching for the fleeing suspect.
Authorities said the man was located a short distance from the crash scene and taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Trevion Mark.

- Reckless Endangerment
- Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle
Jail records indicate that a bail amount had not yet been set.
