BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — If it feels like the rain has no plans to leave, that is because it does not — at least not yet.
Another round of widespread rain and storms pushed through North-Central West Virginia Wednesday morning and into the early afternoon. Flooding has been kept at bay so far, with the heaviest rainfall staying south and west of the region. But residents should not let their guard down.
More Rain Is Coming Tonight and Through Friday
A fresh round of rain is expected to move in this evening, and multiple rounds of storms are lined up for Wednesday through Friday.
Wednesday will likely see the lightest coverage of the three days. But activity is expected to pick back up Thursday and carry through Friday morning — and with the ground already saturated, flooding remains a concern that should be taken seriously.
A Small Break Arrives This Weekend
Friday evening and Saturday bring the best chance at a breather. Expect some relief not just from the rain, but from the heavy humidity that has been pressing down on the region all week.
That relief, however, will be short-lived.
Do Not Put the Umbrella Away Just Yet
By Sunday, high levels of atmospheric moisture return. Scattered showers and storms are expected Sunday into at least early Monday.
The stretch many residents are hoping for — several consecutive dry days — may finally come next Tuesday through Friday. That would mark the first meaningful break in what has been an exhausting week of unsettled weather for the region.
For now, keep an eye on conditions heading into the evening and have a plan if water starts rising near your home or road.
