San Antonio, Texas — A 17-year-old suspect is facing a murder charge after police say a dispute over the sale of a tobacco product escalated into a deadly stabbing at a northwest San Antonio business early Friday morning.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers responded to the Classic Mart & 420 Shop in the 4000 block of Medical Drive shortly after 1 a.m. following reports of gunfire. However, when officers arrived, they discovered that the reported shooting had not occurred and instead found a store employee suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim was later identified as 25-year-old Sanad Faisal Al Resheq.
Argument Allegedly Began Over Refused Sale
Investigators said the confrontation began when Al Resheq allegedly refused to sell a 99-cent tobacco product to the teenager because he was not legally old enough to purchase it.
According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance video from inside the store captured the interaction between the suspect and the victim.
Authorities allege that during the altercation, the teen pulled out a knife and stabbed Al Resheq multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the injuries proved fatal. Al Resheq was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragic incident has shocked members of the local community and those who knew the victim.
Victim Remembered by Community
Following news of the killing, the Islamic Center of San Antonio shared a statement expressing condolences to Al Resheq’s family and loved ones.
The organization described the death as a tragic loss and said the incident had left family members, friends, and community members grieving.
“A tragic incident” that leaves “deep grief in the hearts of his family, friends and all who knew him.”
Friends and community members have since shared messages of support for the victim’s family as they cope with the sudden loss.
Witnesses and Surveillance Helped Identify Suspect
According to investigators, the suspect was identified through multiple pieces of evidence collected during the investigation.
Police said surveillance footage helped establish what occurred inside the store. Additionally, a witness reportedly identified the teen through a photographic lineup.
Investigators also interviewed a coworker of the victim who claimed the suspect was a frequent visitor to the business.

Teen Taken Into Custody After Nearby Standoff
Police said a standoff at the Charles Andrews Apartments was connected to the investigation and ultimately led to the suspect’s arrest.
After being taken into custody, Samuel Davis, 17, was charged with murder. Officials confirmed that Davis was booked into custody and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue reviewing evidence and gathering additional information about the events leading up to the fatal confrontation.
