Popular Georgia Amusement Park to Permanently Close This Summer After More Than 30 Years

Fayetteville, Georgia — A longtime family attraction in metro Atlanta is preparing to welcome guests for the final time after announcing it will permanently close later this summer, bringing an end to more than three decades of amusement park history at the site.

Fun Spot America Atlanta confirmed that its Fayetteville location will permanently close on August 2, marking the end of a chapter that has entertained generations of families since the property first opened as Dixieland Fun Park in 1990.

While company officials did not provide a specific reason for the closure, they described the decision as a difficult one and thanked employees and the local community for years of support.

Fun Spot America Announces Final Closing Date

The amusement park said it will continue operating on its regular schedule until its final day, remaining open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through August 2.

Visitors can continue enjoying the park’s rides and attractions throughout the summer before the gates close permanently.

Chief Executive Officer John Arie Jr. acknowledged the emotional impact of the announcement.

“This was an extremely difficult decision,” Arie said.

“Our Atlanta team has poured their hearts into serving our guests and creating a place where families could have fun together. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and for the support we have received from the Fayetteville community.”

The company also expressed appreciation to the many guests who helped make the park part of family traditions over the years.

What Happens to Season Passes and Gift Cards?

Fun Spot America said season passes and gift cards will remain valid at the Fayetteville location until the park’s final day.

After August 2, guests will still be able to use them at the company’s remaining parks in Orlando and Kissimmee, Florida, both of which will continue normal operations.

The company also said it will contact guests directly regarding group events, field trips, birthday parties, and other reservations scheduled beyond the closing date.

In addition, officials said they are working closely with employees during the transition and will provide support resources as the closure moves forward.

Fans Wonder What Will Happen to the Rides

Following the announcement, hundreds of fans reacted on social media, many expressing sadness while also wondering what would become of the park’s attractions.

Some enthusiasts suggested relocating certain rides to other amusement parks, while others hoped they would remain within the Fun Spot America family.

One of the biggest questions surrounds ArieForce One, the park’s signature roller coaster that debuted when Fun Spot America Atlanta officially opened in 2023.

The company responded to fan questions by saying that if any rides are relocated to another Fun Spot location, those plans will be announced through its official website and social media channels.

For now, no decisions regarding ride relocations have been announced.

End of a Long Chapter in Fayetteville

Although Fun Spot America officially expanded into the Fayetteville property in 2017, the site has served as a destination for family entertainment for more than 30 years.

Originally operating as Dixieland Fun Park before later becoming Fun Junction USA, the property became part of Fun Spot America’s growing portfolio as the company expanded beyond its flagship Orlando location.

With the August closure approaching, many longtime visitors are expected to make one final trip to the park to relive memories before the gates close for good.
