NYC Drill Rapper Briscoe Bands Shot Dead Near Coney Island Boardwalk, Leaves Behind 3-Year-Old Daughter

Brooklyn, New York — A rising New York City drill rapper was shot and killed in broad daylight just steps from the famous Coney Island boardwalk, leaving behind a grieving family, including his 3-year-old daughter, as police continue searching for the gunman.

According to authorities, Truron Roach-Martin, 24, who performed under the stage name “Briscoe Bands,” was shot in the face and chest around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday near West 28th Street, about a block from the ramps leading to the iconic Brooklyn waterfront attraction.

Emergency responders rushed him to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, but despite lifesaving efforts, he later died from his injuries.

Police Continue Search for Suspect

The New York Police Department said the suspected shooter fled east on West 28th Street toward Mermaid Avenue immediately after the shooting.

As of Thursday, investigators had not identified a motive, and no arrests had been announced. Detectives continue working to determine what led to the fatal attack and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

The shooting has left family members searching for answers as they struggle to understand what happened.

Family Remembers a Loving Father and Rising Artist

Roach-Martin’s mother, Christine Roach, described her son as someone who was deeply loved by those around him and devoted to his young daughter.

“He didn’t bother nobody,” Roach said.

She expressed confidence that investigators would eventually identify the person responsible.

“Mark my words, this murderer will be caught, and he will be prosecuted.”

The grieving mother said the loss has devastated the entire family.

“We don’t know what happened. We’re very much affected by this loss. My family doesn’t go through things like this. Everybody is hurting.”

Her son leaves behind a 3-year-old daughter, whose future will now unfold without her father.

Mother Believes Success May Have Made Him a Target

According to his mother, Briscoe Bands had recently signed with a record label and was beginning to gain recognition in the city’s drill music scene.

She believes his growing success may have attracted unwanted attention.

“His career was taking off,” she said.

“He was a young black man coming up in the music business.”

While police have not linked the shooting to his music career, investigators have not ruled out any possible motives.

Rap Career Was Gaining Momentum

Before his death, Briscoe Bands had been actively releasing new music and building an audience online.

He recently announced the release of a remix of “Mari Glock,” originally performed by Chicago rappers Lil Noonie and Lil Sy. He also collaborated with Lil Zay and Zy Glizz on the song “93 Shots.”

The rapper had more than 13,000 Instagram followers, with Rich Blocc Records listed as his management, reflecting the growing momentum behind his career.

As investigators continue searching for the suspect, friends, fans, and loved ones are mourning the loss of a young artist whose future appeared to be filled with promise.
