A confrontation between two drivers outside a convenience store near Waco turned violent Wednesday evening, leaving one man hospitalized with gunshot wounds and another in custody, according to the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. near the intersection of FM 185 and Highway 6, just outside the city limits.
Argument Escalates Into Gunfire
Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a heated exchange between two drivers who may have gotten into a dispute on the road moments before pulling over. During the confrontation, one of the men reportedly drew a firearm and fired twice, striking the other man.
Victim Hospitalized, Listed in Stable Condition
Emergency crews rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital. The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed he is currently in stable condition and expected to survive his injuries.
Suspect Taken Into Custody
Deputies arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting and took a suspect into custody without further incident. Authorities have not yet released the identities of either individual involved, and it remains unclear whether charges have been formally filed.
