MADISON COUNTY, Miss. — A mother of three jumped from a moving vehicle onto a busy interstate to escape the man chasing her. She did not survive. Now, more than a year later, her accused killer finally has a trial date.
Joshua Andrews appeared in Madison County Court on Monday for a status hearing. The judge set his trial for February 1, 2027.
The trial will not take place in Madison County, though. Andrews’ attorney filed a motion to move the venue to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, arguing that heavy local media coverage made a fair trial impossible in Madison County. Judge Dewey Arthur granted the motion and said he would identify a specific Gulf Coast county by the end of business Tuesday.
What Surveillance Video Captured
In January 2025, Glynis Jackson was in the Nissan employee parking lot when Andrews approached her from behind, grabbed her by the neck, and pressed a gun to her head.
Investigators say he forced her into a vehicle — later identified as one reported stolen by his sister — and sped onto Interstate 55.
Jackson jumped from the moving car. Another vehicle struck and killed her.
An autopsy revealed she had been shot in the back and leg. It also confirmed she was pregnant.
The Charges He Faces
Andrews was charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was denied bond.
Jackson left behind three children.
Her case drew widespread attention — not only because of how she died, but because of who she was. A woman who went to work one day and never came home.
The trial is still more than a year away. For her family, the wait continues.
