Kansas City, Kansas — What started as an ordinary summer day for two young brothers running a neighborhood lemonade stand quickly turned into a heartwarming community story after a complaint to police produced an unexpected outcome.
Parez and Jakkhi Reese had set up their usual stand selling lemonade, Kool-Aid, and snacks when someone anonymously contacted authorities to report the business. Rather than ending the boys’ summer venture, however, the call ended up bringing them even more customers.
When officers arrived at the scene, they decided to support the young entrepreneurs instead of shutting down the stand.
Police Responded in an Unexpected Way
According to local reports, emergency responders were dispatched after receiving a complaint about the boys’ lemonade stand.
Rather than treating it as a problem, officers saw it as an opportunity to encourage two children spending their summer break doing something positive.
Several officers stopped by to purchase drinks and snacks, helping boost sales and attract attention from the neighborhood.
Officer Morgan Reed said he immediately began spreading the word among fellow officers.
“I was calling everybody,” Reed said. “‘Make sure you guys stop by the lemonade stand.’ Then whenever they weren’t busy, a couple people were able to swing by.”
What could have been a disappointing experience for the brothers quickly turned into one of the busiest days their stand had ever seen.
Social Media Support Brings More Customers
The support didn’t stop with a few purchases.
The Kansas City Police Department also highlighted the stand on social media, encouraging residents to stop by and support the boys.
In a public post, the department praised the brothers for using their summer break productively and invited community members to visit the stand during the hot weather.
“If you find yourself needing a cool drink or fruity treat on one of the many upcoming hot days, swing by 3306 Webster and support these fine young men, and their choice to do something positive with their summer break,” the department said.
The social media promotion helped generate even more interest, turning a simple neighborhood stand into a local attraction.
Complaint Ends Up Helping Business Thrive
The anonymous caller may have hoped the stand would be shut down, but the opposite happened.
Thanks to support from police officers and community members, the brothers reportedly earned nearly $300 in a single afternoon, a significant boost for their small business.
Officer Reed was so impressed by the boys’ efforts that he returned the following day and spent another $40 at the stand.
The experience became a reminder of how positive interactions between law enforcement and local families can strengthen community relationships.

“I think a lot of us were kids growing up in this city,” Reed said. “This was the thing that we always looked forward to as kids, these friendly police interactions.”
Brothers Have Big Plans for Their Earnings
While many children might spend their profits entirely on toys or entertainment, the brothers already have meaningful plans for the money they earned.
Parez said he hopes to use some of the funds to help homeless individuals and eventually purchase a new e-bike.
Meanwhile, Jakkhi plans to buy diapers for his niece and nephew, showing a level of generosity that impressed many people following their story.
The brothers plan to keep operating their lemonade stand throughout the summer, continuing to serve neighbors while learning valuable lessons about responsibility, entrepreneurship, and community support.
