Irvine, California — While most Southern Californians are looking for ways to escape scorching summer temperatures, one Orange County attraction is bringing a festive twist to the season by welcoming Santa Claus to its water park.
Wild Rivers Water Park in Irvine is set to celebrate “Christmas in July” on July 25, giving visitors a chance to enjoy holiday-themed entertainment while cooling off during one of the hottest stretches of the summer.
The special event comes as much of Southern California remains under an Extreme Heat Warning, with forecasters predicting dangerous temperatures across several inland communities.
Santa, Holiday Games and Family Fun Planned
According to the park, guests attending the one-day celebration can participate in a variety of seasonal activities despite the summer weather.
The festivities will include photos with Santa Claus, a Christmas costume contest, a “Find the Elf” challenge, and a holiday-themed scavenger hunt.
Holiday music will also be played throughout the park, creating a festive atmosphere as families enjoy the attractions.
Wild Rivers spans more than 20 acres and features numerous water attractions, including thrilling slides, a lazy river and a wave pool, making it a popular destination during the hottest months of the year.
Event Coincides With Dangerous Heat Across Southern California
The holiday-themed celebration comes as Southern California experiences another round of intense summer heat.
The National Weather Service warned that Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with inland communities facing potentially dangerous conditions.
According to forecasters, high temperatures between 100 and 110 degrees are expected across valleys, lower mountain elevations and interior regions.
The hottest conditions are forecast for parts of the western San Fernando Valley, where residents are urged to take extra precautions.
Officials Urge Residents to Stay Safe
With extreme temperatures expected across the region, weather officials are encouraging residents to limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
People are also advised to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, seek shade or air-conditioned spaces whenever possible, and check on elderly neighbors, family members and anyone who may be especially vulnerable to the heat.

Health officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and heat-related illnesses.
Cooler Weather Expected Later This Week
While the current heat wave is expected to continue through midweek, forecasters say some relief is on the way.
Temperatures are expected to ease slightly on Thursday, with a more noticeable cooldown anticipated Friday as stronger onshore winds move into the region.
Until then, many Southern Californians may choose to beat the heat by heading to water parks like Wild Rivers—where visitors can celebrate Christmas traditions long before December arrives.
