FAIRMONT, West Virginia — When deputies pulled up to a home on Five Forks Road, something was already wrong.
There was blood on the front door. Blood on the concrete outside. And no one was answering.
When the door finally opened, a man stood there with a bandaged arm — confused, disoriented, and struggling to make sense of what had happened.
What EMS Found Under That Bandage
When paramedics unwrapped the bandage, they found three to four large gashes on the man’s arm.
The wounds were still bleeding. EMS had to rewrap the arm immediately before transporting him to the hospital.
Inside the home was his wife — 76-year-old Juanita Satterfield.
She Refused to Talk. He Eventually Did.
When deputies tried to speak with Satterfield, she refused to cooperate. She screamed at them repeatedly, demanding they leave her house.
The husband later told deputies that his wife had stabbed him with a kitchen knife that same morning.
It was a quiet home on a residential road. A married couple. And a moment that ended with one of them in the hospital and the other in handcuffs.
Charges and What Happens Next
Satterfield was charged with malicious wounding — a serious felony charge in West Virginia.
She is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Adult Protective Services was also notified, given the circumstances and the age of those involved.
The investigation is ongoing.
