Secaucus, NJ: Trucker Killed After Mack Truck Slams Into Disabled Rig On NJ Turnpike

A driver of a tractor-trailer truck was killed in an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike when his truck drifted off the road and hit a truck that was disabled on the shoulder of the highway, according to the New Jersey State Police. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Trey C. Flowers from Milton, Delaware.

Reports indicate that Flowers was driving a Mack tractor-trailer traveling south on the eastern spur of the New Jersey Turnpike when the accident took place early in the morning on August 14, 2020, around 9:01 a.m.

According to police reports, while the Mack truck was driving south, the Peterbilt dump truck was parked on the right shoulder of the highway as its driver stood next to it waiting for assistance after breaking down.

Police say that as Flowers was driving his vehicle, his Mack truck drifted off the road to the right and plowed straight into the Peterbilt truck parked on the right shoulder of the highway. Moreover, Flowers proceeded even more forward and hit the driver of the Peterbilt truck who was standing close to his truck.

Due to the impact of the crash, Flowers was unable to survive. The driver of a Peterbilt truck has been transported to a hospital in the vicinity due to minor injuries.

The investigatory authorities acknowledged that they are still carrying out their investigations into the reasons that may have led to the crash caused by Flowers.
