Cleveland is under a Level 2 of 5 severe weather threat this Monday. Storms are already moving through Ohio and Pennsylvania, and the atmosphere overhead has been confirmed unstable — meaning what is already in the air has the fuel to get stronger.
The Window Cleveland Needs to Watch
The most dangerous stretch runs from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Damaging wind gusts are the main hazard, with some hail also possible. If you have errands, outdoor work, or school pickups in that window, stay close to local alerts and be ready to move inside quickly.
How Far This Threat Reaches
Cleveland is not facing this alone.
The Level 2 corridor stretches from South Dakota and Nebraska east through Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and into Philadelphia and New York City. A broader Level 1 zone surrounds it, extending from Washington state to the Atlantic coast — meaning isolated storms remain possible well beyond the highest-risk areas.
A separate Level 2 pocket also sits over southeastern Arizona, representing its own distinct threat.
South Dakota on a Different Timeline
Out west, isolated afternoon storms in South Dakota could merge into a larger, organized cluster by evening — bringing its own round of damaging wind after dark. This is a separate evolution from the Ohio Valley threat entirely.
