South Baltimore, MD- A peaceful Sunday night turned deadly when two armed men leaped from a moving vehicle and began shooting into a crowd of young people near Hollins Ferry Road.
A quiet Sunday evening in South Baltimore ended in gunfire and chaos when at least two armed men exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group of young people, leaving six individuals wounded — including one victim who was rushed into emergency surgery.
Baltimore Police responded to the 2600 block of Hollins Ferry Road at approximately 9:45 p.m., where officers initially found two gunshot victims. Moments later, a third victim was discovered running toward a nearby firehouse, desperate for help. Three additional victims then arrived at a local hospital on their own, bringing the total injured to six.
According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the victims — all between the ages of 17 and 21 — were simply hanging out on the corner when a vehicle pulled up without warning. Two individuals exited the car and immediately began shooting into the crowd.
“All we know is they pulled up to the corner, got out, and just opened fire randomly at the victims,” Commissioner Worley stated.
One victim sustained critical injuries and was taken into surgery. The remaining five are expected to survive. Police shut down multiple streets in the surrounding area as investigators worked to secure the scene and gather evidence.
As of late Sunday night, no arrests had been made and no suspect information had been released. Detectives are actively working the case and urging anyone with information to come forward.
