Exciting Opportunity: Join Two Major Films Filming in Upstate New York!

The Mohawk Valley is quickly becoming a sought-after destination for film production. Now, you have the chance to be a part of not one but two major movies coming to Central New York.

Meet Paul Buckley, the unofficial Utica Film Czar. As a representative of the City of Utica, he connects producers and directors with our area for their projects. And he’s got some exciting news to share!

Two big-budget films are planning to film in our city and the surrounding areas. But they need your help, the local community, to make it happen.

The first film, currently unnamed, is searching for several unique locations. Filming will take place from January to March 2024. Here’s what they need:

1. Home Alone/John Hughes Film Type House: An ideal house in the woods, with an open concept layout, fireplace, and an 80s feel.
2. Blacksmith Forge or Cave: A dark room resembling a cave suitable for blacksmith tools.
3. College Campus: Dorms, dorm showers, and a stadium seating lecture hall.
4. Warehouse: A space with tall ceilings for building set pieces.
5. Local Bar: Pretty self-explanatory!
6. Shopping Mall or Department Store: Available at night, with clothes and jewelry case racks.
7. A Home: Another home with an 80s aesthetic featuring bedrooms and other rooms.
8. Hospital Set: Hospital equipment and an operating room are required.

But that’s not all! The second film needs locations and offers paid positions on set. Details are still under wraps, but they’re looking for the following roles:

Catering: If you’re interested in feeding the film crew, contact Paul Buckley.
Crew Members: Production Assistants ($200/day), 2nd AC and DIT ($300/day), Best Boy, Grip, Set Teacher (certified teacher for child actors), and a Stunt Person.

Additionally, they require an RV for mobile transportation and services to house actors.

These opportunities come with earning money and participating in exciting projects.

If you have any skills or resources to contribute, contact Paul Buckley at PBuckley@cityofutica.com. Don’t miss out on the local opportunities that could lead to incredible things.
