A 47-year-old Wisconsin woman is now facing a criminal charge after her uncle told police she turned violent and abusive just hours after his mother’s death, according to a criminal complaint.
Karin Andrews was charged this week with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, months after the alleged incident took place inside her 61-year-old uncle’s home in Salem Lakes, Wisconsin. Court records show the case stems from events on Dec. 2, 2025, the day Andrews’ grandmother passed away while under her son’s care.
According to the complaint, tension had been building even before the death. The uncle told investigators he had refused to let his sister and her two daughters, including Andrews, visit the day before their mother died, saying he feared they would cause a disturbance. His fears, he later told police, proved accurate.
After his mother died, the uncle notified his siblings. Andrews, her mother, and her sister arrived at the home around 11:15 a.m. The uncle described all three women as acting disrespectful and out of control, but said Andrews stood out. While positioned directly over her grandmother’s body, she allegedly directed a vulgar insult at her uncle over his earlier decision to keep them away.
Things escalated from there. The uncle said he gave Andrews 20 minutes to leave, but she instead began screaming and cursing at him. Police say she then spit in his face. As the confrontation continued, the uncle called 911, telling dispatchers Andrews remained combative.
Investigators later reviewed home surveillance footage that the uncle had captured during the incident. The video reportedly shows Andrews shouting at her uncle while he calmly asked her to leave, before she lunged toward him in what appeared to be another attempt to spit on him.
Andrews was not taken into custody following the incident but was formally charged with disorderly conduct. She is set to appear in court on Aug. 6, where the case will move forward.
