A Lake Worth sports bar was ordered closed on July 28 after state inspectors uncovered dead roaches, rodent droppings and spoiled food inside its kitchen — marking the fourth time the business has been shut down this year alone.
The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation carried out a routine inspection at the establishment on Lake Worth Rd and documented 12 total violations. Of these, eight were classified as high-priority, two as intermediate and two as basic, prompting an emergency closure order.
Inspectors reported finding roughly 10 dead roaches inside a flip-top cooler along the cook line, with another found near clean plates on a dry storage rack. Rodent droppings were also discovered beneath the dishwasher and under a shelf used to store clean dishware. Both issues were logged as repeat violations from earlier inspections.
Several food items were ordered destroyed on the spot. Clam chowder and gravy that had sat in the walk-in cooler for more than a week were tossed, while cooked potatoes and diced tomatoes were found sitting at unsafe temperatures for extended periods. Additional cold-held items — including sliced tomatoes, chicken and heavy cream — were also found above safe holding temperatures, a repeat issue that led to a formal administrative complaint. Several hot-held soups were below the required minimum temperature, though staff reheated them while inspectors were on-site.
Smaller issues included prime rib left without a date mark for over a day and a damaged section of the kitchen ceiling.
This is not the business’s first brush with regulators this year. Three earlier emergency closures took place in late March, April and May, with fines of $400 and $800 issued after the two most recent shutdowns.
Despite the repeated violations, the bar maintains a strong 4.2-star rating from hundreds of online reviewers, many of whom praised the service. Others, however, flagged ongoing cleanliness concerns, including mold near the dining area and bathrooms in need of attention.
