Sunday brings relief across the Garden State, with highs climbing to the upper 70s to mid-80s under mostly sunny skies and noticeably lower humidity. Winds may gust up to 20 mph in the morning before calming through the afternoon. Sunday night will turn cool, with temperatures dropping to the upper 50s to mid-60s.
Monday follows a similar pattern — mainly sunny, highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, and light winds. Residents can expect one of the most comfortable days of the summer season.
But that comfort will be short-lived.
Tuesday Brings a Serious Threat
Forecasters are sounding the alarm for Tuesday, when a powerful storm system is expected to move into the region, bringing multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms throughout the afternoon and evening.
The Storm Prediction Center has already placed portions of New Jersey under a Slight Risk — Level 2 out of 5 — for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday. That category indicates a real, organized threat — not just a passing shower.
Damaging winds and heavy flooding rains are both listed as primary concerns. With humidity expected to spike, Tuesday’s highs in the 80s will feel more like the upper 80s to mid-90s.
Conditions may not fully clear until late Wednesday, as some storms are expected to linger into the following morning.
What Residents Should Do Now
With two pleasant days ahead, now is the time to prepare. Check your sump pumps, clear storm drains near your property, and charge backup power devices. Avoid scheduling outdoor events or travel for Tuesday if possible.
Forecasters say the rest of the week — Thursday onward — should return to warm, dry conditions.
