A man wanted in connection with a murder out of Rockford, Illinois, was taken into custody Thursday morning after a police pursuit through Hollywood ended in a rollover crash, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The chase reportedly began just before 11 a.m. near the intersection of Schrader Boulevard and Selma Avenue. Authorities say the suspect fled for a short distance before crashing a short while later near Fountain Avenue and Cherokee Avenue.
According to officials, an SUV was found flipped onto its side following the crash, though it has not been confirmed whether that vehicle was directly involved in the pursuit. No injuries have been reported so far in connection with the incident.
The arrest was carried out by agents attached to the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, the agency confirmed. Deputy U.S. Marshal Frankie Sanchez said the man taken into custody was wanted on a murder charge by police in Rockford, Illinois, though further details about the underlying case have not yet been released.
Authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or additional information about how long he may have been evading capture before the Hollywood pursuit unfolded.
