GREENSBORO, North Carolina — She was just driving her son home. He was 3 years old, sitting in the backseat, probably unaware of how fast the situation outside was turning dangerous.
It started when a man cut her off on Interstate 85. She honked — the kind of thing any driver would do. That single honk apparently was enough to send Christopher John Walters, 48, into a violent rage.
What Happened on That Highway
Instead of driving away, Walters sped up. He pulled alongside her car and started screaming.
“You are going to die,” he yelled. Then again. And again — three times total, according to a court warrant.
“I could kill you,” he screamed next. Three more times.
The whole thing was caught on video, which later spread online. In the footage, Walters can be seen speeding up just to get close enough to look at the woman and shout.
She had her child in the car. She called 911.
A Pattern That Went Beyond One Incident
By the time a Greensboro detective got to her, Walters was already sitting in the High Point Jail — arrested on a completely separate charge.
In that case, he reportedly shoved a woman into a dresser hard enough to leave a bruise on her arm.
Walters has since been charged with misdemeanor communicating threats for the highway incident. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 8.
