Longtime Disability Advocate Allegedly Beaten and Stabbed by Son in Scarsdale, Authorities Say

Scarsdale, New York — A respected disability advocate known for her years of community service in Westchester County was found dead inside her home this week, and authorities have charged her adult son with her murder.

According to the Scarsdale Police Department, 71-year-old Marian Green was discovered during the early morning hours at her residence on Butler Road in the Fox Meadow neighborhood.

Police said her 26-year-old son, Chester Green, was taken into custody at the scene and has since been charged with second-degree murder in connection with her death.

Police Allege Victim Was Beaten and Stabbed

According to a felony complaint cited by local reports, investigators believe Marian Green was beaten and stabbed with one or more blunt instruments sometime between July 5 and July 7.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed what led to the alleged attack or released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Suspect Ordered Held Without Bail

Following his arrest, Chester Green was arraigned on Wednesday, July 8, at White Plains Hospital, according to authorities.

The court ordered that he be held without bail and remanded to the Westchester County Jail while the criminal case proceeds.

Court records cited by local media indicate that Green has not yet entered a plea to the murder charge.

His next court hearing has been scheduled for August 5.
