A car accident on Saturday evening resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man from Laurel, police reports indicate.
The crash took place at approximately 9:20 p.m. on August 15, 2026, at Sussex Highway near Oasis Drive in Laurel.
Delaware State Police reports that the man was walking along Sussex Highway in the right lane traveling west as the Toyota Camry approached.
The authorities stated that first responders took the man to the hospital after the accident, where he was declared dead. The authorities are yet to release the identify of the man, stating that they are waiting to inform his family.
The driver of the Toyota, also a 21-year-old man, did not suffer any injuries in the crash.
The closure of Sussex Highway lasted nearly three hours as authorities examined the site to determine precisely what transpired.
Delaware State Police have not shared any information about any expected charges that may be applied in this case.
