Hillsborough, North Carolina — A former high school counselor in North Carolina is facing serious criminal charges after investigators alleged she sent sexually explicit photos and videos to several students through social media, leading to her arrest and resignation from the school district.
Lesli Lambeth Bryant, 37, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of indecent liberties with a student and second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor for alleged offenses that investigators say took place in November 2025.
The allegations involve students at Orange High School, where Bryant previously worked as a school counselor before leaving her position earlier this month.
Investigation Began After School Officials Received a Tip
According to reports, the investigation began after Orange County School officials were alerted to allegations involving Bryant’s communications with students.
Once school administrators learned of the claims, Bryant was immediately placed on paid suspension, and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was notified. School resource officers also became involved as authorities launched a criminal investigation.
The school district later confirmed that Bryant resigned from her position on June 12, several days after the investigation began.
Officials have not released additional details about how the allegations first came to light.
Prosecutors Say Explicit Content Was Shared Through Snapchat
During Bryant’s first court appearance, prosecutors alleged that she communicated with students through Snapchat, where she allegedly sent sexually explicit photos and videos of herself.
Investigators believe multiple students were victims in the case.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the exact number of students involved or released additional information about the evidence as the investigation remains ongoing.
The criminal charges filed against Bryant include indecent liberties with a student and second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, both serious offenses under North Carolina law.
Former Counselor Turned Herself In
After an arrest warrant was issued, Bryant voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement on Thursday morning, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
She is currently being held at the Orange County Detention Center while awaiting further court proceedings.
During Thursday’s hearing, a judge ordered that Bryant remain in custody unless she posts a $50,000 secured bond.
No trial date has been announced.
