PALM COAST, Florida — A woman who had just moved to Florida from Virginia found herself stalked, threatened, and robbed of the one thing she had left of her dead son — because a man she dated for a few weeks could not accept that it was over.
Justin Fountain, 31, is now facing charges including cyberstalking, illegal use of a tracking device, and accessing a computer without authority.
A Short Relationship That Turned Dangerous
The victim met Fountain online shortly after relocating to Florida. She ended things within weeks after he turned verbally aggressive and began controlling her daily routine.
She asked him to stop contacting her and return a spare key to her hotel. He refused.
Fountain then showed up at her workplace unannounced. He followed her to a restaurant. He followed her to the beach.
While she was out, alerts showed someone was breaking into her social media accounts. She immediately suspected him, believing he had grabbed her phone while she slept to steal her passwords.
When she returned to her hotel, the teddy bear was gone — the one holding her dead son’s ashes.
Threats That Left No Room for Doubt
The messages that followed were chilling.
“I will not go away peacefully. I’ll make every day of your life a living hell,” he allegedly wrote.
In a separate text, he threatened to set the teddy bear on fire.
He reached out to her roughly 60 times from multiple numbers and sent more than 50 texts in total.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly was direct.
“I can’t think of a more despicable person that would do that,” he said.
Caught by His Own Location
After investigators obtained a warrant, Fountain was tracked down when he sent texts that accidentally revealed his GPS location.
He is being held at Flagler County Jail on a $61,000 bond. His court date is set for September 1.
