Southern fried chicken fans in New Jersey have another reason to celebrate. Bojangles, the North Carolina-based chain known for its Southern-style chicken, biscuits, and sweet tea, has officially opened its third restaurant in the Garden State — and expansion plans show no signs of slowing down.
A Brand Built on Southern Comfort
Founded in 1977, Bojangles has built a loyal following around its menu of crispy and grilled chicken sandwiches, biscuit combos, chicken tenders, and all-day breakfast options. The chain also serves salads and a lineup of Southern side dishes, including seasoned fries, dirty rice, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes with gravy, coleslaw, and baked beans.
Diners can pair their meals with a variety of dipping sauces, such as Buffalo, honey mustard, barbecue, peach honey pepper, house-made ranch, jalapeño ranch, and the chain’s signature Bo’s sauce. True to its Southern roots, Bojangles also offers sweet tea and lemonade alongside standard soft drinks and milkshakes.
Expanding Across the Garden State
Despite nearly five decades in business, Bojangles didn’t make its New Jersey debut until 2025. Since then, the chain has expanded quickly:
- The first New Jersey location opened at 1000 Stelton Road in Piscataway.
- A second restaurant followed earlier this year at 3341 South Delsea Drive in Vineland.
- The newest location opened this summer at 39 US-9 in Morganville, part of Marlboro Township in Monmouth County.
More Locations Planned
Bojangles isn’t stopping there. According to a report from the Asbury Park Press, the company plans to open a location on Route 35 in Neptune this fall, followed by another in Brick Township’s Laurelton Plaza, near the intersection of Route 88 and Jack Martin Boulevard. The Brick location is expected to open in 2027.
With roughly 800 restaurants spread across 17 states, Bojangles appears poised for continued growth in New Jersey and beyond in the years ahead.
