BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A well-known Birmingham barbecue restaurant is stepping in to fill space left behind after several eateries linked to a struggling restaurant group shut down, giving the Valley Post development a new addition in the months ahead.
Saw’s BBQ confirmed this week that it will open a new location inside Valley Post, joining another recent addition to the entertainment and dining destination. The announcement comes after multiple restaurants tied to Pihakis Restaurant Group closed due to financial difficulties, leaving several spaces empty at the development.
The barbecue chain said the move marks the next step in its growth as it continues expanding across the Birmingham area.
“We’re excited to bring SAW’s BBQ to Valley Post and become part of this community,” said Jennifer Wilson, who oversees Saw’s Homewood, Saw’s Juke Joint and Saw’s Soul Kitchen, and will now add Valley Post to that list. She added that the area has seen major growth in recent years and that the team looks forward to serving both loyal customers and new guests.
An exact opening date has not yet been released, but the company says more details will come in the next few weeks.
Saw’s BBQ has built its name on Carolina-style barbecue since it was first founded in Homewood by Mike Wilson. The restaurant is known for smoked meats, pulled pork, smoked chicken and sides like loaded baked potatoes, along with wings that have earned recognition over the years.
The addition comes shortly after another restaurant announced plans to move into a nearby space that previously housed a different eatery, signaling renewed activity at Valley Post following the earlier round of closures.
For now, residents eager for another barbecue option in the Magic City will need to wait a little longer, but the announcement suggests the development is beginning to rebound, with more openings expected to follow in the coming months.
