A 27-year-old Arizona man is accused of killing both of his parents and burying their bodies in the backyard of their family home before fleeing the country, according to police.
Hector and Larissa Flores of Litchfield Park hadn’t been in contact with relatives since July 29. Concerned family members requested a welfare check on August 4, but one relative told officers he didn’t want to go inside himself, worried about what might be found.
When police arrived, they discovered large amounts of blood inside the home along with signs that someone had tried to clean up the scene. A search of the property led investigators to a grim discovery — both parents buried in the backyard.
The couple’s son, Matthew Christopher Flores Semyonov, was gone. Authorities believe he had already left the country by the time officers searched the property, and as of this week, he remains at large.
Relatives told police that Flores Semyonov’s behavior had shifted dramatically in the months before the killings. After finishing college, he reportedly moved back into his parents’ home and withdrew from friends and social life. Family members said he had been diagnosed with a mental health condition and had made unsettling remarks in the lead-up to the deaths, including cryptic warnings directed at those around him.
Investigators say the case may be tied to family tension — reports indicate Flores Semyonov had recently learned his father was unfaithful to his mother, and grew angry that she chose to stay in the marriage rather than leave.
The U.S. Marshals Service is now leading the search, describing him as wanted on a federal charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, along with local charges including first-degree murder and concealment of a body. Officials say anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
