PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania — Wednesday is shaping up to be one of the better summer days the region has seen in a while — but it is what comes after that has forecasters paying close attention.
After a few morning clouds and isolated showers, skies will clear to mostly sunny by the afternoon. Northerly breezes will pull humidity levels down, with dewpoint temps settling into the mid-60s. Highs will reach 86 degrees.
If you have been waiting for a good day to hit the pool, beach, or water park — this is it. Just do not skip the sunscreen.
A Comfortable Weekend Is on the Way
The good news does not stop at Wednesday. Another front will push through Thursday night into Friday morning, bringing even drier and more comfortable air with it.
That sets up a genuinely pleasant weekend across the Philadelphia area. Saturday looks especially nice, with highs near 84 and lows dropping to a comfortable 66 overnight.
Eyes on Early Next Week — and the Tropics
The stretch of quiet weather will not last forever. Scattered showers and passing storms are possible through the weekend, but the more significant weather threat arrives early next week when conditions become more favorable for organized storm development.
Forecasters are also watching the Atlantic closely. Three areas of tropical interest are being monitored, and one of them carries an 80% chance of tropical development over the next seven days. With peak hurricane season still about a month away, the situation bears watching.
