PORT CHARLOTTE, Florida — A coffee shop with deep New England roots has quietly opened its doors in Port Charlotte, and the man behind it says this one is personal.
Aroma Joe’s, a beloved brand with more than 135 locations across the Northeast, is now serving customers at 16400 Franklin Ave., just off U.S. 41 near Centennial Boulevard.
Franchise owner Bob Brennan has lived in the Port Charlotte area for 25 years. When he relocated from New Hampshire to Florida in 2023, he made it his mission to bring Aroma Joe’s south.
From New England to the Sunshine State
Brennan partnered with Aaron Wiswell, a franchisee who has been with Aroma Joe’s for nearly a decade. Together, they opened a Cape Coral location in February, followed by North Fort Myers — and now Port Charlotte.
The location was no accident. Brennan specifically chose it for its closeness to local sports fields and the Tampa Bay Rays spring training complex at Charlotte Sports Park.
More Than Just Coffee
The menu goes well beyond a basic cup of joe. Aroma Joe’s offers fresh-brewed coffee, handcrafted espresso drinks, and energy drinks.
For food, customers can grab breakfast sandwiches, soft pretzels, cinnamon rolls, and donuts during morning and afternoon hours.
Doors open at 5 a.m. every day and close at 9 p.m. — built for early risers and evening regulars alike.
What Sets This Place Apart
Brennan is clear about what he wants people to walk away feeling.
“Everybody likes coffee and smoothies and their drinks, but what we have is good service,” he said. “We want to give everyone a good experience.”
He added that Aroma Joe’s plans to be an active part of the Port Charlotte community — and that a formal grand opening event is set for Sept. 22.
