A routine evening on Lake Michigan turned chaotic on Monday when a boat carrying seven people suddenly capsized near Morgan Point Beach, sending three people to the hospital and prompting a swift emergency response along Chicago’s lakefront.
The incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. in the 4400 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive, according to fire officials. Within minutes, emergency crews were dispatched to the water after reports came in that the vessel had flipped over, leaving all seven occupants in the lake.
Three of the passengers were pulled from the water and transported to nearby hospitals, where they were listed in good-to-fair condition. Officials have not disclosed their identities or ages, and it remains unclear whether they suffered any injuries beyond the shock of the capsizing itself.
