3-Year-Old Child Dies After Getting Head Stuck in Kitchen Playset at Babysitter’s Home, Police Say

A 3-year-old child has died after getting their head trapped inside a kitchen playset at a babysitter’s home in Boynton Beach, Florida. The tragic incident occurred on July 23 in the Meadows of Boynton Beach community, just after 11 a.m.

How the Child Got Stuck

The toddler had been left in the care of a babysitter’s spouse along with a sibling. While the spouse remained upstairs, the children played downstairs. The toddler’s sibling later told investigators that the child’s toys had fallen into the kitchen playset. When the 3-year-old reached in to retrieve them, their head became stuck.

Desperate Attempt to Save the Child

The spouse periodically checked on the children and came downstairs to find the toddler trapped. They immediately removed the child and began performing lifesaving measures. Boynton Beach Police officers arrived and continued emergency efforts. Fire Rescue then transported the child to a nearby hospital.

Child Did Not Survive

Despite efforts from both the family and medical staff, the toddler was pronounced dead on July 27 — four days after the incident.

Investigation Still Ongoing

Boynton Beach Police say the investigation remains open. As of now, no charges have been filed against the babysitter or their spouse. Authorities have not released the child’s name or identity.
