Roseville, Minnesota — Months after a Minnesota woman was convicted of sexually assaulting two teenage hockey players she met during a family hotel stay, an unexpected revelation about her personal life has drawn renewed attention to the case.
According to recent reports, Anthony Schardin confirmed that he and his wife, Allison Schardin, are still married, despite the criminal case that resulted in her being placed on the state’s sex offender registry.
The couple has largely stayed out of the public eye since the case concluded, with Anthony saying they are attempting to move forward privately.
Husband Says the Couple Is Still Together
When asked whether he and Allison remained married, Anthony reportedly answered simply, “Yes.”
He also indicated that they are trying to avoid public attention following the high-profile case.
“We’re trying to stay under the radar about all that,” Anthony said.
The comments came months after Allison Schardin was sentenced following her guilty plea in a case that shocked many in Minnesota and beyond.
Hotel Encounter Led to Criminal Charges
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred on January 14, 2024, while Allison Schardin was staying at a hotel in Roseville with her husband and children.
Authorities said she met members of a youth hockey team from Colorado while using the hotel’s hot tub. Investigators alleged that she later exchanged contact information with two 15-year-old players after speaking with them.
Court documents state that during the evening, Anthony called down to the hot tub and warned his wife to return upstairs following an argument.
Later that night, prosecutors alleged Schardin contacted one of the teenagers through Snapchat and asked to visit the room where several players were staying.
Investigators said she later engaged in sexual acts with two of the boys while another teenager witnessed the encounter.
According to the complaint, one of the boys later told investigators he did not know how to refuse the situation.
Guilty Plea and Sentence
Rather than taking the case to trial, Schardin pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
In January 2025, she was sentenced to two weekends in jail, community service and five years of probation, avoiding a prison sentence.
She was also required to register as a sex offender under Minnesota law.
Investigators said Schardin later continued contacting the teenagers after they returned home, asking them not to report what had happened before eventually admitting her actions during the investigation.
Divorce Filing Took an Unexpected Turn
Court records also revealed another surprising detail surrounding the family’s circumstances.
According to the records, Anthony Schardin filed for divorce in December 2023, only weeks before the hotel incident took place.
However, after Allison’s arrest in early 2024, the couple jointly requested that the divorce proceedings be moved to inactive status. The case was ultimately dismissed about a year later, leaving the couple legally married.
