Franklin, Massachusetts — A Massachusetts community is mourning the loss of a 15-year-old high school student who died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near a busy roadway, leaving classmates, teachers, and neighbors remembering him for his kindness and vibrant personality.
The tragic collision occurred Tuesday afternoon in Franklin and remains under investigation as police work to determine exactly what led to the fatal crash.
Teen Fatally Injured in Bicycle Crash
According to the Franklin Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls shortly after 3:20 p.m. on June 23 reporting that a vehicle had collided with a juvenile bicyclist near King Street and the Interstate 495 North off-ramp.
Police officers and firefighters immediately began life-saving efforts after arriving at the scene.
The injured teenager was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities later identified the victim as Oliver Lewis, a 15-year-old Franklin resident.
Police said the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.
At this time, officials have not announced whether any charges will be filed.
School Remembers Beloved Student
Oliver had recently completed his freshman year at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro and was preparing to begin his sophomore year.
School officials said he earned honor roll recognition during his first year and actively participated in several extracurricular activities.
In addition to excelling academically, Oliver played soccer for the school and performed as a member of the band.
His death has deeply affected classmates, teachers, coaches, and friends.
School President Tim Sullivan remembered Oliver as a student who made a lasting impression on those around him.
“Oliver had a love for others. He was a terrific, fun-loving, warm-hearted kid who will be dearly missed.”
The school community continues to offer support to students and staff as they cope with the tragic loss.
Residents Voice Longstanding Safety Concerns
Following the crash, several nearby residents said they have long worried about speeding and increasing traffic in the area where the collision occurred.
Neighbors told local media that dangerous driving conditions have become a growing concern over the years.
Resident Lynne Karli, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than two decades, said she has repeatedly noticed vehicles traveling at high speeds.
“It’s heavy and every morning, and every day, there is at least a few screeches,” she said.
Some community members hope the tragedy will prompt officials to review traffic safety measures in the area.

The Franklin Police Department continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Detectives are expected to examine evidence from the scene, interview witnesses, and determine the factors that led to the collision.
