Florida Police Sergeant Accused of Punching Girlfriend and Damaging Property During Relationship Dispute

Miami-Dade County, Florida — A Miramar police sergeant is facing criminal charges after authorities say his girlfriend accused him of assaulting her during a dispute at her home in Miami-Dade County.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Devarious Holloway, 32, was arrested following allegations that he physically attacked the woman and damaged property during an argument about their relationship.

The case remains ongoing, and the allegations have not yet been tested in court.

Woman Reports Incident to Sheriff’s Office

Investigators said the woman went to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office station on Saturday to report an incident that she said occurred the previous day.

According to the arrest report, Holloway allegedly sent the woman a text message around 7 p.m. Friday asking her to come outside because his mother wanted to speak with her.

The woman reportedly told investigators she was confused by the message because Holloway’s mother died in 2017.

When she went outside her home, deputies said she found Holloway standing near a parked vehicle. According to the report, Holloway then asked her about the status of their relationship.

Alleged Confrontation Escalated Inside Home

The woman told investigators she walked toward her sister’s residence, which is located on the same property, believing Holloway would follow her there.

However, she later realized he had entered her home instead, according to the report.

Authorities said the woman returned to her house, where the confrontation allegedly intensified.

The arrest report states that Holloway allegedly threw her cellphone in her direction, striking a door after missing her.

Investigators said he then allegedly grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her onto a couch. When she attempted to get up, deputies allege that Holloway punched her in the lower lip.

The woman also accused him of kicking her in the leg during the encounter.

Property Damage Allegations Included in Report

According to investigators, the woman eventually ran to a bedroom and locked the door. The report alleges that Holloway began kicking the bedroom door, causing damage to the door frame.

Authorities said he continued questioning her about their relationship while she repeatedly requested the return of her cellphone.

The woman told deputies that Holloway eventually left but later returned to the home.

During the second encounter, investigators allege he struck her in the chest area, causing visible redness and breaking a necklace she was wearing.
