Southampton Township, New Jersey — A New Jersey high school wrestling standout is being remembered by teammates, coaches, and the wider wrestling community after he was killed in a tragic e-bike crash involving a UPS truck.
Authorities identified the victim as Chase Sudano, a sophomore at St. Augustine High School and one of the state’s rising wrestling talents.
The fatal collision occurred on Tuesday, June 16, leaving family members and fellow athletes mourning the loss of a young competitor whose future appeared exceptionally bright.
Fatal Collision Remains Under Investigation
According to New Jersey State Police, Sudano was riding an electric bike eastbound when the front of the bike collided with a UPS truck traveling southbound at the intersection of Tranquility Court and North Firelane Road.
Investigators said the impact ejected the teenager from the bike, causing fatal injuries. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Sudano could not be saved.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and have not released additional details regarding what may have led to the crash.
UPS issued a statement expressing condolences to the family while confirming cooperation with investigators.

“He was the type of kid who always had a smile on his face and he’d put one on your face as well.”
