7-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Struck by School Bus in Monsey, Ramapo Police Say No Charges Filed So Far

A seven-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a school bus in Monsey, located in Rockland County, New York, authorities confirmed.

According to the Ramapo Police Department, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, on Blauvelt Road. Officials said the child was attempting to cross the road near 182 Blauvelt Road when the bus struck her.

Emergency responders, including Hatzoloh EMS volunteers and Ramapo police officers, arrived quickly at the scene, but the girl was pronounced dead on site.

Police identified the vehicle as a school bus associated with Yeshiva Viznitz. The driver, a 28-year-old man who lives locally in Monsey, remained at the location following the crash and fully cooperated with the responding officers, according to the police department.

Authorities said the driver was tested for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, and no indicators of intoxication were found. Investigators also noted that excessive speed does not appear to have contributed to the accident.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Ramapo Police stated that no criminal charges have been filed against the driver, though the case remains active.

The identity of the young victim has not been officially released by police.

Officials said the investigation into the crash is ongoing, and further updates are expected as more details emerge.
