for Global Film Venture

Carrousel Studios to Develop Genre-Bending Films with a Worldwide Reach

Omar Sy of ‘Lupin’ fame, ‘Fast X’ director Louis Leterrier, and Thomas Benski, known for his production work on “Gangs of London,” have teamed up to create Carrousel Studios. This new venture represents an independent production entity with a presence in major global cities including Paris, London, Los Angeles, and Senegal.

Carrousel Studios is set to finance and develop a range of movie and TV projects, with a creative focus on genres like action, thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, and comedy. The strategy for funding these ventures will leverage various financial avenues such as tax breaks, European incentives, and partnerships with brands, with CAA Media Finance playing a crucial role in structuring the company’s finances.

The founders, Sy, Leterrier, and Benski, who have previously collaborated on multiple projects, explained that the name Carrousel was chosen to symbolize the company’s commitment to inclusivity – aiming to entertain a global audience irrespective of their origins, age, or background. They envision Carrousel Studios as a hub for globally appealing content produced in an environment that prioritizes artistic vision.

They emphasize that diversity and a rich mix of experiences are at the heart of their company’s culture, driving Carrousel’s mission to create magical and engaging content for a worldwide audience.

Thomas Benski, a notable figure in the industry with nominations for BAFTA, Grammy, and Emmy Awards, co-founded Pulse Films and is known for his work on acclaimed productions such as “American Honey” and “Gangs of London.” Louis Leterrier, whose latest work includes directing “Fast X,” has directed several high-profile films including entries in the “Transporter” and “Fast and Furious” franchises. Omar Sy continues to captivate audiences, most recently with his role in “Lupin,” which has become one of Netflix’s top non-English series, and his diverse career spanning roles in “Intouchables” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.”

All three founders of Carrousel Studios are represented by CAA, with additional representation for Leterrier and Sy through various agencies in France and the US.
