‘Venom 3’ Reveals Title and New October Release Date

The eagerly awaited third chapter in the “Venom” series, now officially titled “Venom: The Last Dance,” is set to grace cinemas earlier than anticipated, rolling out on October 25. This news comes straight from Sony and Columbia Pictures, promising another thrilling adventure with the beloved Marvel antihero.

Returning to his dual role, Tom Hardy will captivate audiences once again as Eddie Brock and the titular Venom. The film also introduces Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor in roles that remain shrouded in mystery. With Kelly Marcel at the helm of the script and stepping into the director’s chair for the first time, this installment promises to bring fresh vision while maintaining the saga’s cherished essence. Producers for the film include Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.

Scheduled alongside Halloween week releases, “Venom: The Last Dance” is poised to dominate the box office with support for Imax and premium formats. It shares its release window with notable titles like Universal/Blumhouse’s “The Wolf Man” remake and the third “Terrifier” film, setting the stage for a blockbuster Halloween.

The “Venom” saga follows the tumultuous life of Eddie Brock, a downtrodden journalist from San Francisco whose encounter with an alien symbiote, Venom, transforms his existence. Together, they strike an agreement — Venom can feast on dangerous criminals if Eddie allows, in exchange for Venom’s protection against more menacing alien threats.

Despite a mix of critical feedback, “Venom” has garnered a dedicated fanbase, largely due to Hardy’s portrayal of Eddie and Venom, marked by a unique blend of dark humor and potential romantic undertones. Sony has cleverly played into this fan-fueled perspective, marketing the franchise with a romantic comedy spin in several promotions.

Hardy’s most recent appearance as Eddie was a cameo in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” briefly crossing over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe before being whisked away to his original universe.

While “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” couldn’t topple the box office success of its predecessor, partly due to limited release in China, it still celebrated a triumphant theatre run amid the pandemic’s ebb, debuting with $90 million in North America and achieving a global tally of $506 million.
