2 Dead, 2 Critically Injured After Semi-Truck Slams Into Vehicles Near Belle Glade — Investigation Underway

A devastating three-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck left two people dead and two others fighting for their lives near Belle Glade over the weekend, officials confirmed.

The collision occurred Saturday afternoon along U.S. Highway 27 in the South Bay area, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR). Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. following reports of a major crash involving multiple vehicles, including a large semi-truck.

When rescue teams arrived, they found a chaotic scene of mangled vehicles and injured passengers scattered across the highway. Two individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital as trauma alerts, meaning they suffered life-threatening injuries requiring immediate advanced medical care. Tragically, two other people did not survive the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials.

Fire rescue authorities confirmed that two additional occupants involved in the wreck walked away without any injuries, a small silver lining in an otherwise tragic incident.

Given the severity of the collision, PBCFR’s Special Operations team was also called in to handle a fuel leak that resulted from the crash, working to prevent further hazards at the site while cleanup and investigation efforts continued.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office has taken charge of the investigation to determine what led to the deadly pileup. Authorities have not yet released details about what caused the semi-truck to collide with the other vehicles, nor have they disclosed the identities of the victims pending family notification.

Highway crashes involving large commercial trucks often result in more severe outcomes due to the size and weight difference between vehicles, and investigators will likely examine factors such as speed, road conditions, and driver behavior as part of their probe.

This remains a developing situation, and updates are expected as authorities release more information about the victims and the circumstances surrounding the crash.
