Welcome to the new MMM2.0 WEEKENDER. Previously known as Michigan Movie Media 2.0., we figured it was time to make some changes. The biggest of these changes are the stories we are going to be featuring on a weekly basis on this blog.
Every weekend we are going to be offering Michigan film industry’ s biggest stories for that week. This will be for those presently living in the state of Michigan and those sprung who are now making names for themselves in sunny California.
Every week, (as news is available) we are going to be promoting Michigan originals who have gone on to sunnier climes to make a name for themselves in Hollywood. We have your name, we have your number. And we will be bringing all the news to these pages in a series known as #MICHIGANCONNECTION
Fridays-Saturdays, we will be all about Michigan’s indie film industy. There is a lot of activity in the Mitten that we will be reporting on, and we have it all. Every Friday-Saturday, we will be reporting on the biggest stories of the week gleaned from our sources, and we have them.
Sundays, we will be offering tips, tricks, and advice from noted columnists on all-things-filmmaking.
Filmmakers throughout Michigan have been working hard to establish themselves as a formidable force in the film industry. Here you will read interviews with these filmmakers, the actors, and others involved in Michigan’s film industry. Here you will read reviews of the films that they have completed.
As MMM2.0, the MMM2.O Weekender will continue to take things to the next level. With this, we will focus almost exclusively on Michigan’s independent film industry. We have very few other alternatives. With a crushing defeat and extermination of Michigan’s film incentives, the number of BIG tent pole productions, with the exception of a few which were signed to produce here prior to this fateful day, have simply dried up. Although this was disheartening for many who were looking forward to pursuing careers in the film industry, with many leaving for what they perceived as greener pastures, the heartiest of Michigan’s filmmakers decided to simply dig in and start producing their own movies, whether shorts or features. Many of these, to Michigan’s film-making community’s credit, have proven to be very high level, with many receiving accolades from film festivals throughout the world. The selection of these films by international film festivals, paneled by expert judges is one of the highest compliments that Michigan’s independent filmmakers could receive, with many decorating the posters they have created for each production with many laurel wreaths. Go Michigan film industry.
What plans do we have for MMM2.0Weekender? MMM2.0Weekender is going to be an evolving entity. We have plans of continuing to present news as it breaks, but with an exploration and focus on video and podcasting, and other new technologies. We will present articles on and interviews with Michigan’s filmmakers, and on subjects relevant to and of interest to our growing readership.
Now let’s make some noise. Let’s make it known that Michigan has a film industry and we are dedicated to producing films that will make our presence known. We are Michigan’s film industry.
