Missing Dog Poppi Found Dead Along River Road After Plumstead-Area Search

A search for a missing dog in the Plumstead Township area ended in tragedy this week after the animal, named Poppi, was found dead along River Road.

Plumstead Township Police had asked for the public’s help earlier in the week after the newly adopted dog fled the North Branch neighborhood and headed toward Point Pleasant Pike. Poppi was wearing a distinctive pink leash attached to her collar at the time she went missing.

According to reader Megan Tammaro, a rescue organization involved in the search received a report from someone who said they had seen a deceased animal along River Road, between Point Pleasant and Lumberton. Poppi’s former foster went to the location to investigate and confirmed that the animal was Poppi, Tammaro told CentralBucksNow.

“Sadly, Poppi was found yesterday on River Road and did not survive her injuries. We would like to thank everyone who shared the post. Please keep Poppi’s family in your thoughts during this difficult time,” police said in a Wednesday update.

The circumstances surrounding Poppi’s death have not been released.

Members of the rescue organization and Poppi’s adopters said they were deeply saddened by the loss, Tammaro said.
