Duluth’s most anticipated breakfast spot is finally opening its doors this week

DULUTH, Minnesota — The wait is almost over for breakfast lovers in West Duluth.

Bean and Bear Bagels, a new grab-and-go breakfast destination from the team behind Ursa Minor Brewing, has officially announced it will open to the public on Wednesday, August 19. Doors open at 6 a.m.

A breakfast spot built around fresh, local ingredients

The idea behind Bean and Bear is simple — fast, convenient breakfast made with ingredients you can actually feel good about.

The kitchen follows the same philosophy Ursa Minor has always used for its beers and taproom pizzas. Everything is locally sourced and made fresh. Nothing frozen.

The new spot is located at 202 South 26th Avenue West, inside the same building that houses Ursa Minor’s brewing facility and main offices.

What is on the menu

Bagels are the star of the show — and you can order them individually, by the half-dozen, or by the dozen.

At launch, six varieties will be available, including plain, sesame, asiago, and cinnamon crunch. Spreads include whipped butter, strawberry jam, and several whipped cream cheese flavors.

The sandwich menu launches with seven options. The Northlander keeps things classic with egg, cheddar, and sausage. The South Shore Spread goes a different direction with smoked lake trout, onion, capers, and romaine lettuce.

There are also two club options — turkey and ham — and a vegetarian sandwich called the Peter Rabbit, loaded with hummus, cucumber, carrot, pickled red onion, and romaine.

On the drinks side, expect hot and cold coffee, tea, kombucha, root beer, and smoothies.

A long time coming for Duluth

Bean and Bear was originally expected to open back in April or May. The timeline kept shifting as the team worked to get the customer-facing space ready.

In the meantime, they have not been sitting still. Since June, the kitchen has been making bagels and fulfilling delivery orders through their website.

Now, the storefront is finally ready — and Duluth gets a proper new breakfast spot to start the day.

Hours will be 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., making it easy to grab something on the way to work or settle in for a relaxed weekend morning.
