BOCA RATON, FL — A man from Brevard County reports that a simple act of stepping out of bed during his hotel visit in Boca Raton resulted in him sustaining an injury to his leg, prompting him to bring the matter before the law courts.
Donald Monarch has initiated a lawsuit against Boca Hi Suites LLC, who own Holiday Inn and Suites located at 701 NW 53rd Street in Boca Raton where Monarch was staying. The case was submitted in the Florida courts on August 13.
In the documentation provided to the court, Monarch says that he recently lifted himself off his hotel bed and landed barefoot on some metal protruding out of the hotel bed frame. The resulting fall resulted in him suffering from a serious foot injury.
Monarch believes the hotel should have prevented this from happening. The lawsuit further alleges that Boca Hi Suites failed to inspect their premises and did no repair to their hotel rooms, and did not warn guests about possible danger under their bed. It is still unclear what caused the metal to be in that position in the first place.
The complaint outlines that as a result of the injury, Monarch is experiencing persistent pain, lifelong physical impairment, and psychological suffering. His lawyer, Stephanie M. Zinni of Morgan & Morgan, is suing for damages of over $50,000 and is requesting a jury trial.
As of Sunday afternoon, Boca Hi Suites had not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
