FORT WORTH, Texas — What started as a verbal dispute at a residential property ended with one man dead and another hospitalized Saturday afternoon.
Fort Worth police responded just after 3:30 p.m. to the 6900 block of Misty Glen Court in the city’s East Division.
What happened at the scene
Investigators say a resident arrived home and found a man he knew already on the property.
The two got into a heated argument.
At some point, both men opened fire on each other. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The resident was transported to a nearby hospital, though his condition remained unknown at the time of the report.
A protective order was already in place
Police revealed a significant detail — the man who was killed had an active protective order filed against him.
That order involved someone living at the home where the shooting took place.
Authorities have not said what connection the deceased had to the property or why he was there despite the order.
Investigation is ongoing
Homicide detectives have taken over the case.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and release the victim’s identity once next of kin are notified.
No arrests have been announced at this time.
