BRUCEVILLE-EDDY, Texas — Michael David Morris was 38 years old. His son Braxton Johnson was just 18.
They were shot and killed on a rural road in a small town south of Waco. And according to prosecutors, the man who pulled the trigger did not just walk away — he came back.
What Witnesses Say Happened
It started as an argument between two men on a road.
A nearby resident heard the commotion. His daughter had been outside playing basketball when she screamed about two men fighting in the street. The witness stepped outside and saw the bikers squaring up — fists raised, as if about to fight.
Then someone said “let’s do this.” A gun came out.
A pickup truck drove over one of the motorcycles. Four shots rang out.
One voice cut through the chaos: “You just murdered two people. You are going to prison.”
“Let Him Die”
That could have been the end of it. But prosecutors say Romi Frentescu, 33, did not leave and stay gone.
He came back.
A witness testified that Frentescu returned to the scene while a nurse was trying to save one of the victims — and told her to stop.
“Let him f—ing die,” he allegedly said.
“There was no remorse for what he had done,” the witness told the court.
The Defense’s Version
Frentescu’s attorneys say Morris had threatened to burn down their client’s house and kill his dog. They say Morris pulled a switchblade first — and that Frentescu fired in self-defense.
“Romi is a peacemaker,” one defense attorney said.
The witness who watched the shooting testified he never saw Morris with a knife.
What He Now Faces
Frentescu is charged with two counts of capital murder, aggravated assault, evidence tampering, and making a terroristic threat.
The death penalty is off the table. But if convicted, he will spend the rest of his life in prison — with no chance of ever walking free.
The trial is ongoing.
