SLANESVILLE, West Virginia — Somewhere, a family does not yet know what happened Saturday morning on a rural West Virginia road.
A 10-year-old child is dead. And the people who loved that child are still waiting — unaware — for a knock on the door that will change everything.
The single-vehicle crash was reported near the intersection of Route 29 and Route 127 in the Slanesville area of Hampshire County early Saturday morning. Deputies from the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The child died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Other juveniles who were inside the vehicle also suffered serious injuries. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
