A chaotic scene unfolded on Chicago’s Eisenhower Expressway early Thursday morning after multiple vehicles collided in a violent crash that left one car engulfed in flames.
According to officials, the crash occurred near the Ashland Avenue stretch of the expressway and involved at least four vehicles. Witnesses reported hearing a loud collision followed by flames rising from one of the wrecked cars as emergency crews rushed to the scene.
The Chicago Fire Department confirmed that four individuals sustained injuries in the incident. Two of the victims were rushed to nearby hospitals in critical condition, while a third was reported to be in serious condition. The fourth injured person’s condition has not been disclosed in detail.
Emergency responders worked quickly to contain the fire and clear the wreckage from the roadway. Traffic along the busy expressway was disrupted for a period as crews managed the scene, though all lanes have since been reopened to regular traffic flow.
Authorities have not yet released details on what triggered the multi-car pileup. An official investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway, and further updates are expected as officials continue gathering evidence from the scene.
