The return of a stronger marine layer is producing more extensive morning cloud cover, particularly along the coast and in nearby inland areas. While sunshine is still expected during the afternoon hours, temperatures will generally remain lower than those seen earlier in the week.
Meteorologists say the cooler pattern should remain in place through at least the end of the week, providing a break from recent heat across much of the region.
Los Angeles and Orange Counties See Cloudy Mornings
Residents in Los Angeles and Orange counties can expect cloudy skies during the morning hours before sunshine develops later in the day.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for a high near 77 degrees and a low around 61 degrees.
As June Gloom conditions strengthen, temperatures are expected to remain relatively mild through the weekend, with coastal clouds becoming a regular feature during the overnight and morning hours.

The valleys and Inland Empire will continue to experience warmer conditions than coastal communities, although temperatures are expected to gradually trend downward over the coming days.
Wednesday’s forecast includes mostly sunny skies with a high of 85 degrees and a low of 58 degrees.

In addition to the cooler weather, officials are warning beach visitors about dangerous ocean conditions.
A Beach Hazard Statement remains in effect through Friday at 11 p.m. for coastal areas extending from southern Orange County through San Diego County.
Forecasters warn that waves between 3 and 6 feet and strong rip currents could create hazardous swimming conditions.
Anyone heading to the beach is encouraged to remain alert, swim near lifeguards when possible, and avoid entering the water if conditions appear unsafe.
Mountains and Deserts Continue to See Sunshine
Mountain communities are expected to enjoy mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching around 79 degrees, while overnight lows could fall into the mid-40s.
Although a slight cooling trend is also expected in higher elevations, conditions should remain pleasant through the weekend.

Desert communities will continue to experience significantly warmer weather than the rest of Southern California.
