In March 2022, 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell confirmed that production on the film would start by the end of the year.

In September 2022, the film’s title was revealed as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, taking place years after the events of War. The writing team expanded, with Jason Reed and Jenno Topping announced as producers.

The casting news started rolling in! Owen Teague snagged the lead motion-capture role in August 2022, followed by Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, and Kevin Durand in the following months.
